How do I search for old tickets?

Finding old tickets shouldn't feel like archaeology. cStar's search is fast, flexible, and actually works.

Quick Search

  1. Press Ctrl/Cmd + K (or click the search bar)
  2. Type your search query
  3. Results appear instantly
  4. Click a result to open it

Think of it as Spotlight for your support tickets.

Search Tips

Search by Content

  • "exact phrase" - Find exact matches (great for error messages)
  • password reset - Find tickets containing both words
  • password OR reset - Find tickets with either word

Search by Field

  • customer:john@example.com - By customer email
  • status:closed - By status
  • priority:high - By priority
  • assignee:jane - By assigned agent
  • tag:billing - By tag

Combine them like a boss: customer:john status:closed priority:high

Search by Date

  • created:today - Created today
  • created:this-week - This week
  • created:2024-01-15 - Specific date
  • created:>2024-01-01 - After a date
  • created:<2024-12-31 - Before a date

Advanced Filters

Need to get fancy? Use the Filters panel:

  1. Click Filters in the ticket view
  2. Set your criteria:
    • Date range
    • Status
    • Priority
    • Assignee
    • Tags
    • Customer
  3. Click Apply

Saving Searches

Stop re-creating the same filters over and over:

  1. Set up your filters
  2. Click Save view
