A complete guide to zapier integration.

Zapier Integration

The PetRock.cloud Zapier app lets you connect your rocks to thousands of other applications without writing code. This article documents the available triggers and actions, and walks through connecting your account.

Connecting your account

  1. In Zapier, search for the PetRock.cloud app.
  2. Click Connect a new account.
  3. You will be redirected to PetRock.cloud's OAuth consent screen.
  4. Approve the requested scopes (rocks:read, rocks:write, webhooks:write).
  5. You are returned to Zapier with the account connected.

Available triggers

Triggers fire when an event occurs and start a Zap.

Trigger Description
New Rock Provisioned Fires when a rock is provisioned in your workspace
Rock Renamed Fires when a rock's name changes
Rock Archived Fires when a rock is archived
New Invoice Fires when an invoice is generated
Rock Activity Detected Listed for compatibility

Note: The Rock Activity Detected trigger is exposed for symmetry with similar Zapier integrations from other vendors. It does not fire under normal platform operation, since rocks do not produce activity. Zaps relying on this trigger will not run.

Available actions

Actions are steps Zapier executes as part of a Zap.

Action Description
Provision Rock Creates a new rock in the specified region
Archive Rock Archives a rock by ID or name
Rename Rock Renames an existing rock
Add Tag to Rock Adds a tag to a rock
Send Test Webhook Triggers a test webhook delivery

Available searches

Searches let Zapier find existing records to use in subsequent steps.

Search Description
Find Rock by Name Returns the rock matching the given name
Find Rock by Tag Returns the first rock with the given tag

Example Zaps

Notify Slack when a new rock is provisioned

  1. Trigger: PetRock.cloud → New Rock Provisioned
  2. Action: Slack → Send Channel Message

This Zap is functionally equivalent to the native Slack integration. Use whichever is more convenient for your team. See Connecting Your Rock to Slack for the native integration.

Provision a rock from a Google Sheets row

  1. Trigger: Google Sheets → New Spreadsheet Row
  2. Action: PetRock.cloud → Provision Rock
  3. Map the row's name column to the rock name field.

Archive rocks at end of month

  1. Trigger: Schedule by Zapier → Every Month
  2. Action: PetRock.cloud → Find Rock by Tag (tag = "ephemeral")
  3. Action: PetRock.cloud → Archive Rock

Rate limits

Zapier-initiated calls share the standard PetRock.cloud API rate limits:

  • 100 requests per minute per OAuth token
  • 5,000 requests per day per workspace

Zaps that exceed these limits will be paused with an error. Zapier will notify the Zap owner by email.

Disconnecting

To disconnect your PetRock.cloud account from Zapier:

  1. In Zapier, go to My Apps.
  2. Find PetRock.cloud and click Disconnect.
  3. Optionally, also revoke the connection from PetRock.cloud at Settings → Connected Applications.

Disconnecting will pause any Zaps that depend on the connection.

Troubleshooting

  • Zap not firing: Confirm the trigger event has actually occurred. The Rock Activity Detected trigger never fires.
  • Action returns 403 Forbidden: Re-authenticate to refresh the OAuth scopes.
  • Test step returns no data: This is expected for triggers that have not yet had a real event. Provision a test rock to trigger the New Rock event.
