FAQ and answers about canceling your subscription.

Canceling Your Subscription

This article covers how to cancel your subscription, what happens to your rocks at cancellation, and how long your data is retained afterward.

Before you cancel

Consider whether one of the following alternatives meets your needs:

  • Downgrade to a lower tier (see Upgrading From Pebble to Boulder; the same flow handles downgrades).
  • Pause your subscription for up to 60 days from Settings → Billing → Pause. During a pause, rocks are archived but not deleted, and billing is suspended.
  • Archive specific rocks if your goal is to reduce per-rock charges rather than fully exit the platform.

How to cancel

  1. Navigate to Settings → Billing → Plan.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Cancel Subscription.
  3. Complete the short feedback form. The form is optional but helps us improve.
  4. Confirm cancellation by typing your workspace slug into the confirmation field.
  5. Click Confirm Cancellation.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will not be charged again, and you retain full access until the period ends.

What happens to your rocks

At the end of the billing period, all rocks in the workspace are automatically archived. Archived rocks are not billable and do not count against any quota.

Note: Archived rocks behave the same as active rocks in every observable respect. The distinction is purely administrative.

Data retention timeline

After cancellation, the following retention schedule applies:

Data type Retention period
Rock configuration and metadata 90 days
Audit logs 90 days
Webhook delivery records 30 days
API tokens (revoked at cancellation) Not retained
Invoices and billing records 7 years (legal requirement)

During the 90-day window you can reactivate your subscription and all rocks will be restored to their pre-cancellation state. After 90 days, configuration is permanently deleted and reactivation requires re-provisioning rocks from scratch.

Reactivating within 90 days

  1. Log in to your workspace at app.petrock.cloud.
  2. You will see a banner indicating your subscription is canceled and rocks are archived.
  3. Click Reactivate Subscription.
  4. Confirm the plan and payment method.

Rocks are unarchived in bulk over the following 5-15 minutes. You can monitor progress at Settings → System → Reactivation Status.

Exporting your data

Before cancellation, we recommend exporting your data:

  1. Navigate to Settings → Data Export.
  2. Click Generate Export.
  3. The export is emailed as a download link within 24 hours.

The export includes rock configuration, audit logs, and webhook history in JSON format.
