Bring your Zendesk customers to cStar. Users, orgs, custom fields—all mapped.
Bring your Zendesk customers into cStar. The Universal Importer auto-detects Zendesk exports and maps fields for you.
How to Import
- Go to Settings → Team → Import.
- Upload your Zendesk users export. JSON is preferred. CSV works too.
- cStar detects the Zendesk format and pre-fills field mappings.
- Set the match key to
emailto prevent duplicates. - Review the preview, then run the import.
For tickets, conversations, and custom fields, see the Migrating from Zendesk (Universal Importer) guide.
What Gets Imported
| Zendesk Field | cStar Field |
|---|---|
| name | Name |
| phone | Phone |
| tags | Tags |
| notes / details | Notes |
| user_fields | Custom Fields |
| organization_name | Company |
The Zendesk user id is preserved as external_id on the imported customer. Useful for cross-system lookups later.
What Gets Skipped
- Agent and admin accounts (only end-users import as customers)
- Suspended users
- Records missing both name and email
After Import
Find imported customers using:
- The
external_idfield (their Zendesk user ID) - Tag filters
- Customer search by name or email
Tips
- Start with a small export (50-100 records) to verify mappings look right.
- Use the Universal Importer's merge strategies if you already have data in cStar.
- JSON exports from Zendesk carry more data than CSV exports.
